60-year-old man arrested after woman found dead in Portsmouth

A 60-year-old man from Portsmouth was arrested last night on suspicion of murder after police discovered a woman dead at a property on Hartley Road in the city.

Officers were called to the Hartley Road address at 19:40 BST on Monday following reports of a disturbance. Upon arrival, they found the woman deceased inside the property. Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary confirmed the death was being treated as suspicious and launched a full murder investigation.

Detectives have not yet named the victim nor the suspect. The arrested man remains in custody at a local police station as inquiries continue. Authorities have urged anyone with information to come forward.
