Isle of Wight mourns 101-year-old WWII veteran after century of service
Regional leaders and former comrades gathered to honor retired Royal Navy officer Captain Harold Whitmore, whose death leaves just three surviving veterans from the Isle of Wight’s WWII ranks. Whitmore, a D-Day survivor and lifelong advocate for veterans’ rights, passed at St. Mary’s Hospital on Tuesday aged 101.
