Global tech firm unveils £4.2bn AI chip factory in Sunderland
A £4.2bn investment by GlobalFoundries will create over 2,000 jobs in Sunderland, marking one of the largest tech expansions in UK history. The semiconductor plant is set to open in 2027, doubling the UK’s domestic chip production.
