Somali referee Artan barred from U.S. for World Cup 2026 arrives home vowing return
World Cup referee Omar Artan was denied entry to the U.S. despite holding a diplomatic visa, landing back in Mogadishu Wednesday. The 34-year-old, Africa’s top referee in 2025, vows to officiate at the next tournament after being rejected at Miami International Airport Monday.
